The idea for VIVA LOCA began with the important realization that buying local products and services is certainly better for our community and ultimately better for the planet. But it's not always easy to do!
We have spent a lot of our time exploring the Ottawa Valley and the l'Outaouais and have discovered an amazing array of quality products that are created right in our own backyard. Why is it then that we buy garlic from China, strawberry jam from Europe and candles from China? Why is it that local farmers, producers and artisans struggle to make a living and yet we still buy products made around the world? We now offer gourmet foods from more than 20 local companies. |  |

VIVA LOCA is a unique retail concept for Ottawa ... a store where you can find a wide selection of high quality locally-produced fine food products and quality gifts ... and a place to drop in for a cup of fair-trade coffee ... and perhaps a wholesome breakfast or a light lunch.
In the set-up and operation of our store we try to cater to local suppliers wherever and whenever possible ... and we depend upon our customers to provide their feedback and recommendations.
We are also committed to reducing our environmental impact wherever we can. The store will be lit with energy-efficient compact fluorescent lighting. We will also use only environmentally responsible cleaning products and biodegradable takeout containers and shopping bags. Every little bit counts!
